Aloha! It’s the local event of the summer…and usually when the rain starts! The Shrewsbury Flower Show took place in Newgate’s neighbouring town of Shrewsbury on 10th and 11th August. In celebration of this year’s theme “Times Gone By”, who better to create a theatrical display than Shropshire’s iconic clock and watch brand, Newgate.
Newgate founders, Jim and Chloe, were asked as a one-off to design and install a huge clock display from their vintage turret clocks collection. This presentation was part of Jim and Chloe’s rarely seen, private collection. They created giant steel lollipop sticks to display the clocks on, providing a great photo / Instagram opportunity!
While we were at it, we decided to host a clock and watch pop up on the showground for visitors to shop our latest collection. Our fashion-forward timepieces combine modern, minimalist styles with high quality materials, to offer the latest in accessories for your wrist and walls. The pop up also gave us a place to booze and watch the epic fireworks display!
In keeping with the theme (and the fact that the event is held in summer), we went with a Hawaiian style pop up. Think straw shack, cocktails in pineapples, lei’s and Hawaiian music to transport shoppers to the beaches of Oahu, Honolulu and Maui; we definitely brought the tropical vibes to Shrewsbury! We also held a limbo competition on the stand, giving show-goers the chance to win a Newgate clock.
We received great feedback from visitors about our vintage clock display, Hawaiian pop up - and the flower garlands we gave away went down a treat! A big thank you to the folks of Shrewsbury for coming to see us and making our Flower Show debut a brilliant experience (despite the wet weather!)
