Tell us a bit about yourself and your blog.

Hey! My name is Luke Catleugh. I am a 21-year-old student living in London studying journalism. I run a YouTube channel, an Instagram and a blog. I feature everything from fashion and food to interiors and lifestyle content.

 I started my blog back in 2012 when I just finished school. I always loved to write and take photos. For my 17th birthday, I got a DSLR camera and I thought this was the perfect time to give blogging a shot (pardon the pun). Looking back at some of my posts and seeing how far I have come, really puts into perspective what hard work can do. I am mainly more on YouTube and Instagram now, as I love how connected you are with your audience.

How would you describe your style?

For me, I always describe my style as minimal and classic. I used to really struggle to define my style, growing up I had some style disasters. I think through my teenage years, I was really into the whole street style, oversized band t-shirts etc…

I then moved to London and my world was changed. I felt so much more comfortable and freer in my clothing choices. I started to appreciate tailoring and smarter pieces.

I feel like I have found my style now. It is very stripped back, and I hate to say it, “basic”. You will find me in a t-shirt and dad-jeans or cropped trousers nine times out of ten. I stick to a natural block colour palette and add some accessories or a pop of colour where needed.

Where do you find inspiration for your outfits?

I use Instagram and Pinterest mainly for outfit inspiration. Pinterest is great as there is such a variation of content right now. There are people from all over the world pinning pictures of the latest trends. I love Scandinavian style. It is classic and minimal, and I feel it will never go out of fashion. I also have a huge number of saved photos on my Instagram profile. I use these outfits as Inspiration when I am shooting content.

What fashion trends are you loving right now?

I am really loving how much fashion has taken a turn back in time. With double pleated trousers, trench coats and oversized tailoring really making a comeback.

I am loving pairing smart pieces with streetwear. A pair of tailored trousers with a chunky trainer looks cool.

Which is your favourite Newgate clock and watch?

I wear my Newgate 'Blip' watch every day, it is so versatile, and it goes with every outfit. I wear a lot of silver jewellery, so it compliments everything so well.

We have the Mr Clark clock on our kitchen wall and love it. We live in an open plan living room, kitchen and diner and it is the first thing you see when you walk in. I also love the gold tones of the Mr Edwards clock.

What would you consider your biggest fashion mistake?

I wish I could be one of those really cool people and say “there is no such thing as a fashion mistake” however I have made plenty. I once took a pair of scissors to some skinny black jeans to rip them myself and honestly, they looked like Edward Scissorhands had been at them! Disaster!

What is your proudest achievement to date?

I think my proudest achievement to date is happening each and every day. I genuinely get excited to wake up on a morning. When I was growing up, I always struggled to celebrate my own achievements, and always wanted to do better. But genuinely, each day when I feel stressed or that I am not doing enough, I look back and see how much I have done. That keeps me going.

 Are there any other Instagram accounts or bloggers that you’re inspired by?

I follow some pretty amazing people on Instagram and in the YouTube/blog world. Some of my favourite fashion accounts are:

@byollieb

@imdanielsimmons

@mathiaslefevre

And interiors accounts:

@kerrylockwood_

@_lisa_dawson_

@deecampling

What is the ONE piece of fashion advice you would give to others?

Be confident in your style and remember, less is more. I think we all are in an age of panic buying to keep up with trends. Buy less but invest in more versatile pieces. Wear what makes you feel confident, and not what everyone else wants you to wear.
