THE G6 STORY
Jim Read’s latest watch design takes its name from his grandfather. Eddie Read was an important player in radio technology for the British secret service. He was fluent in Morse Code and a staunch HAM radio fanatic, his call sign was ‘G6US’ which Jim has used to autograph the new collection in honour of Eddie and as a thank you for his influence over Jim’s early interest in gadgets and instrumentation that ultimately led to him making clocks and watches.
There is a ladies collection G6S, and men’s collection G6. Both come with interchangeable straps, one made from fine black Italian leather and the other made from Newgate’s colourful loom woven canvas. Each watch also includes the new acrylic table stand to display your G6. With the G6 Jim wanted to create a recognisable new style.
The chronograph dials have unique design assets including multi faceted and coloured chapter rings, inner bezels, sub dials and rings. The colour palette featured on most dials includes “Magnetic Blue” and “Pluto Pink”, all executed with quality and accuracy. 44 millimetre 316L surgical grade stainless steel engineered lugless cases, designed for Newgate’s signature interchangeable underslung straps and Japanese Miyota quartz movements. The back of the hand crafted leather straps include Morse Code as used by Eddie Read, and the canvas straps are loom woven. Well over 100 horologists have crafted and built every G6 watch.
The stand out Newgate triptych style chronograph subs will be the instantly recognisable insignia of the fashion luxurious G6, a nod to all discerning brand savvy people.
